The Louisiana Department of Health is responsible for protecting and promoting health and providing access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitation services for all citizens. Associates must understand their roles and requirements related to business continuity and emergency management. In the event of an emergency, the hospital will contact Region 5, the Designated Regional Coordinator (DRC), or the parish office of the Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP) to obtain and replace necessary medications and supplies. This includes accessing and distributing stashes from local, state, or federal sources.
Once the Emergency Management Plan is activated, personnel assigned to security functions will be responsible for closing all exits and entrances, with the exception of the ambulance entrance. The OEP is also responsible for ensuring that personnel have access to necessary food and water during an emergency situation. This includes providing meals, snacks, and beverages to personnel on duty. The OEP will also coordinate with local restaurants or food vendors to provide meals for personnel on duty. Additionally, the OEP will coordinate with local water suppliers to provide clean drinking water. The OEP will also coordinate with local shelters to provide temporary housing for personnel on duty.
This includes providing beds, blankets, pillows, and other necessary items. The OEP will also coordinate with local transportation providers to provide transportation for personnel on duty. The OEP will also coordinate with local medical facilities to provide medical care for personnel on duty. This includes providing medical supplies such as bandages, gauze, antiseptic ointment, and other necessary items. The OEP will also coordinate with local pharmacies to provide medications for personnel on duty. The OEP is responsible for ensuring that personnel have access to necessary food and water during an emergency situation.
